Christmas Vacation

This year, my Dad, brother, and I decided to get away for Christmas.

With Mom being gone, the holidays held little excitement for us. We decided to stay in a cabin in the mountains {Samuel was super excited about that}. So thus began our search into all kinds of accommodations. But EVERYTHING from West Texas to Georgia was booked over the days we wanted to be gone.

But I remembered a friend of mines family has a house in Ange Fire, New Mexico and they kindly let us stay there.

This view from their balcony is breathtaking {quite literally because it was FREEZING
We stayed a few days in the beautiful Rockies.

Outdoor activities abound! We went horseback riding up the mountain for 2 hours one day.

Another day, Dad and Samuel went skiing. No, I didn’t go. I am such a klutz that putting me on two metal rods on the top of a mountain and asking me to make it down in one piece would have just not worked out! 😉 So I stayed at the house and caught up on such reading {and sappy Halmark Holiday movies}.

But on Christmas Day, all three of us got up early early early and braved the fridged cold to head over to Taos, NM to embark on a snowmobile trip up and down another mountain!

It. Was. Awesome. It lasted for 2 hours and on more than one occasion, I was pretty sure I was going to die. But praise the Lord, I did not. It was by far my favorite activity of the week.

I enjoyed our trip because we got away from most of the stress this holiday has brought. Even though my aching heart was a miserable of what we were missing,  I am so glad we got away.

Angel Fire has a special place in my heart.
