I have been trying to get back into the habit of reading God’s Word daily and I was directed towards the book of Ephesians. So tonight I was reading the first chapter and some verses caught my eye.
“…just as He chose us in Him before the foundations of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined us to adoption as sons of Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.” ~ Ephesians 1:4-6
I really love those verses! They speak of God’s manifold grace and love for me. Even before the foundation of the world, HE CHOSE ME! He chose me to be a daughter of the King because it pleased Him.
It boggles my mind why on earth He’d choose me to His. I know I’m a sinner. I know I’m flawed, yet it was to bring Him praise and glory that He decided, “You know what Jesus and the Holy Spirit, we’re gonna create Natalie today. She is going to be a crazy mess but she’s going to be OUR crazy mess. Let’s make her in Our image and send her into the world to bring Us glory and honor. She’ll be a daughter of the King of Kings, an heir unto salvation, all because it brings Me good pleasure to do so.”
That’s what this verse says to me. I am chosen, loved, and thought of. Even if I am humanly not chosen, unloved, and forgotten, my Heavenly Father has predestined me to be with Him forever. He loving picked me out and stamped me with His seal.
If I were to rewrite those verses with my name in it, it’d sound like this: “…just as He chose Natalie in Him before the foundation of the world, that Natalie should be holy and without blame before Him in love, having predestined Natalie to adoption as sons of Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted in the Beloved.”
Wow…I can’t tell you how blessed I feel knowing that He chose me. I am holy and blameless before Him.
For long before the foundation of the world, HE CHOSE ME!
